Mommy’s Valentine – a cocktail recipe

This past week I’ve been sharing a bottle of Hendrick’s gin with first, my bestest girlfriends and then my sister-in-law at Jack’s little birthday gathering (there was far too much family insanity going on – gin was necessary). My girlfriends and I whipped up a few standard cocktails from the Hendrick’s website, our favorite being the Hendrick’s Breeze:

1½ parts Hendrick’s Gin
2 parts white cranberry juice
splash of Fresca

Build over ice in a tall glass. Garnish with orange and lemon wheel.

It’s delicious. You’re welcome.

Well today I found myself running around trying to get laundry done, the bathroom clean, Jack ready for a birthday party and myself ready for dinner out with the husband. In the midst of the rush I had the thought that a glass of SOMETHING would be nice to wind down with. To calm down and get ready to enjoy myself for heaven’s sake. Well hello…the white cranberry juice had gone bye-bye. Hmm…a quick rummage and really all I had was apple juice or cranberry apple. The gin was weird with apple juice, but the cranberry apple? Quite pleasant! The drink is a pretty shade of pink and the rose flavors of the Hendrick’s really came out. Both in aroma and taste. A splash of Fresca and it’s sparkling pretty.

So mamas, be not afraid to raid the juice pantry when the afternoon is waning and you deserve a break too. Happy Valentine’s Day – enjoy this one on me.

Mama’s Valentine

1½ parts Hendrick’s Gin
2 parts cranberry apple juice
generous splash of Fresca

pour over ice. put your feet up. let someone else fold the laundry.

Disclosure: I received a generous rebate on a bottle of Hendrick’s Gin via the BzzAgent program. All opinions expressed above are my own.
