Last week I had the opportunity to spend the morning getting fit and fabulous. The lovely Brianne of Stroller in the City hosted Fit, Fab, & Fly at the 92Y on the Upper East Side. First up I was able to try out a new workout at ChaiseFitness. I was texting my sister on my walk over and she wrote back, “Exercising? Who are you and what have you done with my sister???”. I know she was trying to be funny, but she had a point. Ever since having Jack my exercise routine has dwindled down to “well I pushed the stroller around the neighborhood an awful lot today…” This was a little different. Check out the ChaiseFitness studio!

Chaise Fitness GymChaiseFitness is home to the “Reinvention Method”, a revolutionary chair-based workout that fuses Pilates, ballet, and strength training by incorporating an overhead bungee system, creating long and lean muscles while powerfully strengthening the core. Let me tell you-it is not easy, but even someone like me who only exercises casually can do it. It felt great to move and exercise with purpose again! The owner, Lauren Piskin, led our class and made it so fun. Look at me smiling while working out! Also…if my body can look like hers? Sign me up! The music and energy of the group kept me going and reminded me of why I prefer group classes to begin with. I need group motivation!

ChaiseFitness was created by mother-daughter duo Lauren and Rachel Piskin. Located in New York City, the fitness studio was born out of Lauren’s professional experience as a fitness visionary and former competitive figure skater and Rachel’s previous career as a professional ballerina with the New York City Ballet. The programs at ChaiseFitness improve flexibility, balance, core development and posture in an environment that is at once intimate and invigorating. I loved it!

After class we were given a chance to refuel courtesy of BluePrint Juices and Chop’t salads. That cashew vanilla cinnamon agave drink? AMAZING.

After all this virtuous living it was time for a little pampering. Priv was on hand to give us the full beauty treatment. Go Priv is a beauty on demand app. Fellow Manhattanites, you can open the app and have someone come to you asap for a haircut, blowdry, styling, nail service, makeup application…  How fabulous is that? I had a manicure and my make-up done just in time for my weekly date night with Roger!

I wasn’t the only one treated to something special either. I was sent home with an adorable t-shirt for Jack. Elemental Ts is a new company just launched in Brooklyn by two moms. Their shirts are perfect for my little science geek who requested the firefly t-shirt. It even glows in the dark!

The final touch was sending me home with some gorgeous smelling, non-toxic, organic home cleaning products from Zen Home Cleaning. Their cleaning services sound divine-they even leave an organic chocolate on your pillow when they leave.

All in all, it was a pretty delightful morning. My fitness goals were given a HUGE jump start, and having some healthy eating and pampering thrown in was a great reward. We all need to take better care of ourselves and this morning was a perfect push in the right direction for me.
